Affiliate Marketing Failure

Over the past few months I have been watching and reading the affiliate marketing message boards, but i have not been posting.  I have been out of the loop because i was working.  I have been living off of a few very successful campaigns since May of this year and studying and listening so that I could learn to make more money without making a mistake and losing.

I have watched friends lose out and give up.  That is your first mistake. If you want to make a living as an affiliate marketer you need to network, study and practice. I lost a lot of money in trial and error before i started to earn.

This morning I was talking to somebody who I guess that i can call a mentor because he is always honest with me.  I was frustrated because of a campaign that i tried out last week and spend all day working on building a landing page and uploading keywords and then i was slammed by Google Adwords with the big “$5.00, $10.00″ minimum CPC that makes most noob affiliates give up. I was not happy.

Then i was taught something really important by him.  He explained that it is a huge mistake to place a massive amount of keywords into 1 adgroup.  With adwords, Google allows you to add 2 thousand keywords into each group.  That is what i tried with a particular “Make Money At Home” campaign that would have paid me close to $50 a sale.  The smart thing to do is take TIME and build separate, targeted adgroups with only a few keywords and then target the actual ads to the specific searched term. This way, you can get a lower CPC and a better quality score.

Then i remembered that if the landing page you build does not have any content, then you will get slammed by Google with the dreadful raising of your CPC.

All in all, today i was motivated. You cannot give up if you want to do it.  I am thankful that the $5k a month i am making right now is keeping me paying rent and having fun and making music, but if my friends can make 4k a day, then so can I. And so can you.

We can all be millionaires, in any form, you just need to want it and work at it and dont expect it to happen overnight, it takes time and i believe that you can never be a winner until you lose  :)
